Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynaecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynaecology. Obstetrics is the medical field that manages a broad range of women’s health needs during pregnancy, childbirth, and the recuperative period following delivery. At Total Woman we aim to make your pregnancy and delivery a very joyful and memorable experience.
Delivery & Painless Labour
At Total Woman the prospective mother has a choice of undergoing a natural childbirth without intervention or she can opt for painless delivery for which epidural analgesia is administered by our expert anaesthetist. Either way our warm and caring staff help the mother to go through the experience of child birth positively and with enthusiasm. Also we welcome the husband or any one person the mother chooses to be present with her throughout the process of labour and delivery.
Although vaginal delivery is the preferred mode of delivery some times we have to resort to a c-section if there is any risk to mother or baby. At Total Woman we are fully equipped to undertake a c-section at any moment 24x7. Despite it being an operative delivery, we try to make the mother as comfortable as possible. Also the surgery can be attended by her husband or her choosen person.
We are Government approved for termination of pregnancy. This can be done in 2 ways,
(1) Medical Abortion - This can be done with the help of tablets alone. An ultrasonography before and after the treatment is necessary. It can be performed on pregnancy less than 7 weeks of gestation.
(2) Surgical Abortion - It is performed under general anaesthesia. It can be performed between 6-12 weeks of gestation.
Family planning is the practice of controlling the number of children in a family and the intervals between their births. At total woman we focus on providing the correct and convenient method of contraception to the couple so that the physical and mental stress of having an unplanned pregnancy is avoided. Contemporary notions of family planning, however, tend to place a woman and her childbearing decisions at the center of the discussion, as notions of women's empowerment and reproductive autonomy have gained traction in many parts of the world.
